Preventing Respiratory Illness
- Practice good hygiene habits during cold and flu season.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
- Wash hands often, especially after coughing or sneezing.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Ask your doctor about the influenza vaccine for children 6-23 months and eligible adults.
Preventing Acute Otitis Media
- Breastfeed your child for at least six months.
- Do not put your baby in bed with a bottle propped in his/her mouth. Propping the bottle is linked to ear infections and choking.
- Eliminate exposure to second-hand tobacco smoke.
